Laptop to HDTV via Intel WiDi

Intel Wireless Display provides a WiFi link between a compatible laptop and your HDTV through its WiDi technology, giving a cloned image of the computer screen on the TV. The laptop must be equipped with the Intel Centrino wireless capability and Windows 7. An enabled laptop will have the Intel Wireless Display icon, which is shown below.

A wireless adapter will be needed for the TV. This is plugged into the TV via the HDMI or A/V connections and the set-up procedure is run on the laptop. Optimum range between laptop and TV is up to 20 feet in the same room, although it can connect well beyond that distance. The adapter can easily be unplugged and used on another TV set. Blu-ray and DVD movie playback is not supported owing to digital rights requirements.

Netgear make the TV adapter, the PUSH2TV box, PTV 1000-100 UKS, selling at between £70 and £100.
